The Ghostwriter
Available 8/3
When
a successful British ghostwriter, The Ghost, agrees to complete the memoirs
of former British Prime Minister Adam Lang, his agent assures him it's the
opportunity of a lifetime. But the project seems doomed from the start--not
least because his predecessor on the project, Lang's long-term aide, died in
an unfortunate accident. The Ghost flies out to work on the project, in the
middle of winter, to an oceanfront house on an island off the U.S. Eastern
seaboard. But the day after he arrives, a former British cabinet minister
accuses Lang of authorizing the illegal seizure of suspected terrorists and
handing them over for torture by the CIA -- a war crime. The controversy
brings reporters and protesters swarming to the island mansion where Lang is
staying with his wife, Ruth, and his personal assistant and mistress,
Amelia. As The Ghost works, he begins to uncover clues suggesting his
predecessor may have stumbled on a dark secret linking Lang to the CIA --
and that somehow this information is hidden in the manuscript he left
behind. Was Lang in the service of the American intelligence agency while he
was prime minister? And was The Ghost's predecessor murdered because of the
appalling truth he uncovered?

Date Night
Available
8/10
Phil
and Claire Foster are a sensible, loving couple with two kids and a house in
suburban New Jersey. The Fosters have their weekly "date night" -- an
attempt at re-experiencing the spice of the dates of yesteryear, involving
the same weekly night out at the local Teaneck Tavern. Their conversations
quickly drift from barely-date talk to the same chore-chat they have at the
dinner table at home. Exhausted from their jobs and kids, their dates rarely
end in fore- or any other kind of play, let alone romance. After seeing two
of their best friends -- another married couple with kids in suburban New
Jersey -- split apart from living the same life they themselves lead, Phil
and Claire begin to fear what may lie ahead: a state of bland indifference
and eventual separation. In an attempt to take date night off auto-pilot,
and hopefully inject a little spice into their lives, Phil decides a change
of plans is in order: take Claire into Manhattan to the city's hottest new
restaurant. The Fosters, however, don't have reservations. Hoping to be
seated sometime before the clock strikes twelve, they steal a no-show
couple's reservations. What could it hurt? Phil and Claire are now the
Tripplehorns. The real Tripplehorns, however, it turns out, are a thieving
couple who are being hunted down by a pair of corrupt cops for having stolen
property from some very dangerous people. Forced on the run before they've
even finished their risotto, Phil and Claire soon realize that their
play-date-for-parents has gone awry, as they embark on a wild and dangerous
series of crazy adventures to save their lives -- and their marriage.

The Backup Plan
Available
8/24
After
years of dating, Zoe has decided waiting for the right one is taking too
long. Determined to become a mother, she commits to a plan, makes an
appointment and decides to go it alone. That same day, Zoe meets Stan - a
man with real possibilities. Trying to nurture a budding relationship and
hide the early signs of pregnancy becomes a comedy of errors for Zoe and
creates confusing signals for Stan. When Zoe nervously reveals the reason
for her unpredictable behavior, Stan commits fully and says he's in. Never
before has love seen a courtship where a wild night of sex involves three in
a bed - Stan, Zoe and the ever-present massive pregnancy pillow. Or, where
'date night' consists of being the 'focal point' at a near-stranger's water
birth which does for kiddie pools what "Jaws" did for swimming in the ocean.
The real pregnancy test comes when both of them realize they really don't
know each other outside of hormonal chaos and birth preparations. With the
nine month clock ticking, both begin to experience cold feet. Anyone can
fall in love, get married and have a baby but doing it backwards in
hyper-drive could be proof positive that they were made for each other.
